It’s getting louder…do you hear it?

Rumble, rumble…

No, that’s not the sound of my stomach growling (although it’s *nearly* that loud). That’s actually the sound of things shifting and changing and moving in redshoes26 design land. I have some very exciting news to report, but I need to wait a few more days before I can officially announce it. Stay tuned!

I had two art shows last week and both went well. I was part of the Gaviidae Market and the Nokomis Urban Craft Fair. Traffic was down at both thanks to the Veteran’s Day holiday and the huge dumping of snow the state of MN received on Saturday. But I met some cool vendors, made decent sales, and got my work in front of new audiences. These are all good things! This week, I’m back at Gaviidae Market on Thursday, Nov. 18. I’ll be near Saks Off 5th from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Stop by and say hello! It’s an excellent mix of vendors, and you can even get a snack if you’re hungry–there are lots of food and treat vendors!

I can now officially announce my collaboration with Commemorate the Date, the brainchild of painter Megan Moore and her PR guru, Hadley Barrows. I’m going to be using Megan’s Commemorate the Date paintings to create some wedding suite design templates for couples. I’m so excited to be partnering with Megan and Hadley–both are good friends and are outstanding at what they do, so it’s going to be a fun new adventure. I’ll post photos of the designs once they’re complete!

Let the holiday art shows begin

Tomorrow is my first holiday art show of the year, with many, many more to follow. My sister W is throwing the Holiday Boutique in Lowertown from the community room of the building she lives in, the River Park Lofts in downtown St. Paul, MN. In addition to artwork and gift items from redshoes26 design, the other artisans who will be there are Megan Moore (paintings/illustrations), Paula Satern (jewelry), Diane Healy (Sweet truffles/cakes), and Kathleen Casey (Knotty & Nice lifestyle designs). We’ll be there from 5-9 p.m., so come join us if you’re in Minnesota! We’ll have wine and other beverages, samples of Sweet truffles, and lots and LOTS of other chocolate treats to share. Plus, holiday music and a damn good time. Let me know if you have questions!

Crawling to the surface

Sorry, redshoes nation, for my lack of posts lately. I got knocked out by a cold for a few days and am now finally starting to feel better. I didn’t do much for about four or five straight days, including hop on el interneto. But here I am.

One exciting thing I want to share that I worked on a bit through my sickness (because time was of the essence I got my creaky bones out of bed) is the one-sheet I created for my friend’s band, The Western Ridge. I got very positive feedback on it from the band, which was fun! It’s almost ready to go and will next be printed and distributed. For those of you who don’t know what a one-sheet is–and I didn’t until a band member clued me in–it’s an 8.5 x 11 sheet that is sent to radio stations, etc., when bands send in their albums for possible airplay. It includes a little info about the band, the album’s release date, track listings (names, times, short descriptions), and a photo of the band and the band’s album cover and/or logo. Oh! And contact info. It was really fun to do and I’m excited that my design will (hopefully) help The Western Ridge get their music on the airwaves. If you haven’t seen them live yet, check them out–their show list is on their Myspace page! Their CD release show on Oct. 23 was so great.
