Hey — I design wedding suites!Posted: 09/10/2011
Sometimes it surprises me to discover that people don’t know I design wedding suites. I feel like I talk about it a lot, and promote it, but maybe I’m not doing enough?
I recently had a soon-to-be bride, who had seen my designs from a mutual friend’s wedding several years ago, nearly judo chop her fiance for not reminding her that I design wedding suites until after they’d ordered theirs from–you guessed it–some anonymous, run-of-the-mill online retailer. But not all was lost, as she hired me to design thank-you cards and escort cards for her reception, which I designed to be harmonious with the invites they had already sent to guests. (Luckily the designs she had chosen were pretty cool!) So in this case, it was too late for a full suite, but at least she nabbed a rad designer to create at least a few of her wedding pieces. Yeeeah!
As a bonus, she told me the escort cards, which included a little inside joke between the couple/their family, were a big hit at the reception. I love to hear that!
I recently designed an entire suite (*this bride* contacted me well in advance!) to create her sure-to-be-stellar nuptials in Charlotte, NC, in November. It was so fun to work with this perfect client who has a killer style and a laid-back approach to wedding planning. We worked together beautifully and I felt the invitations really synched up with her and her fiance’s personalities. The couple loved them.
It was even more validating (and humbling) to receive some feedback she received after sending the invitations out to her guests. And it’s *so* nice to actually be relayed this feedback from a client.
Here’s what they said about my work:
“Hi! I just got your invitation today! Beautiful! They are so you! I love the cityscape and the fonts!”
“We received your wedding invite on Friday, and I’ve been meaning to email you to tell you that it looks beautiful! I love the funky flare and urban feel.”
Thanks, Steph, for sending these to me. It was an absolute pleasure to work with you and I wish you all the happiness in the world.
